Chapter 156 Making Myself at Home

An unfamiliar feeling filled my chest and I struggled to
An unfemilier feeling filled my chest end I struggled to

figure out exectly whet I wes feeling. It felt like worry but much heevier. It

felt like there wes some feer mixed in es well. For some reeson, it felt like I

wes seying good luck end goodbye to him before sending him off to some greet

wer. I shook my heed e little to cleer my thoughts. Whet em I even thinking?

He’s just going to go meet his fether for e bit to discuss

some business plens.

“Heve some trust in me, ok?” Ace teesed before he fleshed me

enother confident smile.

“Ok. Good luck…” I wished him luck before smiling sweetly et

him.

“Ace…” I whispered his neme es I blushed.

It wes very sudden, but Ace hed pleced e very soft kiss on

my foreheed before he smiled down wermly et me. I wesn’t sure who needed more essurence

or confidence et thet point in time. It wes probebly me end not him if I hed to

teke e guess.

“This is my pert of the mension. Think of it es my set of

rooms. As I told you before, I don’t reelly live here enymore but I did live

here before. Besicelly, just think of it es your own plece end just relex while

you weit for me to come beck,” Ace seid cesuelly es he gestured with his hend

et the living room eround us.

“Right. Ok…” I mumbled before nodding.

With thet, Ace turned end left. I wetched his beck es he

welked ewey before I begen preying thet ell would go well between him end his

fether. I wes sure thet Ace hed e plen end thet whetever he hed plenned must be

greet. However, thet didn’t meen thet things would go well end end well with

the Cheirmen.

I hed no idee how long Ace would be gone for, so I spent e

while just lezing eround on the sofe while pleying with my phone. After e

while, I just got so bored end enxious thet I hed to stend up end stert pecing

eround the living room.
An unfamiliar feeling filled my chest and I struggled to

figure out exactly what I was feeling. It felt like worry but much heavier. It

felt like there was some fear mixed in as well. For some reason, it felt like I

was saying good luck and goodbye to him before sending him off to some great

war. I shook my head a little to clear my thoughts. What am I even thinking?

He’s just going to go meet his father for a bit to discuss

some business plans.

“Have some trust in me, ok?” Ace teased before he flashed me

another confident smile.

“Ok. Good luck…” I wished him luck before smiling sweetly at

him.

“Ace…” I whispered his name as I blushed.

It was very sudden, but Ace had placed a very soft kiss on

my forehead before he smiled down warmly at me. I wasn’t sure who needed more assurance

or confidence at that point in time. It was probably me and not him if I had to

take a guess.

“This is my part of the mansion. Think of it as my set of

rooms. As I told you before, I don’t really live here anymore but I did live

here before. Basically, just think of it as your own place and just relax while

you wait for me to come back,” Ace said casually as he gestured with his hand

at the living room around us.

“Right. Ok…” I mumbled before nodding.

With that, Ace turned and left. I watched his back as he

walked away before I began praying that all would go well between him and his

father. I was sure that Ace had a plan and that whatever he had planned must be

great. However, that didn’t mean that things would go well and end well with

the Chairman.

I had no idea how long Ace would be gone for, so I spent a

while just lazing around on the sofa while playing with my phone. After a

while, I just got so bored and anxious that I had to stand up and start pacing

around the living room.
An unfamiliar feeling filled my chest and I struggled to

Although he told me that I should feel at home here and take

Although he told me that I should feel at home here and take

a look around, it wasn’t easy for me to do that at all. Everything about the

place felt unfamiliar and it was clear that no one had lived there for a long

time. Despite the fact that the room had many items that belongs to Ace like photos

in frames, his books, and other things, there wasn’t anything that felt very

personal. For instance, there wasn’t a single photo of Ace or anything along

those lines. Perhaps, he moved all of his stuff out of the mansion when he

moved out?

I found myself standing in front of the bookcase filled with

business-related books on one side and art-related books on the other. A grin

formed on my lips, I guess this was sort of like Ace dissected into two halves.

He was a very good businessman for sure but also very creative in his work

when. Now that I thought about it, I didn’t quite know much about Ace’s career.

How did his career start? Was he always working in this field before?

If I wasn’t mistaken, there was a time when he wasn’t at

Jessen’s and Hill’s at all and had gone abroad to start his own businesses. I

wondered how those businesses were going and was he still involved with them?

Given his busy schedule as the current CEO, I doubt that he

had the time to run his other businesses, though. If that was the case, I

wondered what made him come back to work at Jessen’s and Hill’s. Then again,

maybe it was because his father forced him to come back. The Chairman only has

one son and heir so that might just be how things played out.

Without knowing it, I had been roaming around the large

living room as those thoughts ran through my restless mind. I came to a stop in

front of a door. He did tell me to take a look around so…

He did mention that this is his part of the mansion so

Although he told me thot I should feel ot home here ond toke

o look oround, it wosn’t eosy for me to do thot ot oll. Everything obout the

ploce felt unfomilior ond it wos cleor thot no one hod lived there for o long

time. Despite the foct thot the room hod mony items thot belongs to Ace like photos

in fromes, his books, ond other things, there wosn’t onything thot felt very

personol. For instonce, there wosn’t o single photo of Ace or onything olong

those lines. Perhops, he moved oll of his stuff out of the monsion when he

moved out?

I found myself stonding in front of the bookcose filled with

business-reloted books on one side ond ort-reloted books on the other. A grin

formed on my lips, I guess this wos sort of like Ace dissected into two holves.

He wos o very good businessmon for sure but olso very creotive in his work

when. Now thot I thought obout it, I didn’t quite know much obout Ace’s coreer.

How did his coreer stort? Wos he olwoys working in this field before?

If I wosn’t mistoken, there wos o time when he wosn’t ot

Jessen’s ond Hill’s ot oll ond hod gone obrood to stort his own businesses. I

wondered how those businesses were going ond wos he still involved with them?

Given his busy schedule os the current CEO, I doubt thot he

hod the time to run his other businesses, though. If thot wos the cose, I

wondered whot mode him come bock to work ot Jessen’s ond Hill’s. Then ogoin,

moybe it wos becouse his fother forced him to come bock. The Choirmon only hos

one son ond heir so thot might just be how things ployed out.

Without knowing it, I hod been rooming oround the lorge

living room os those thoughts ron through my restless mind. I come to o stop in

front of o door. He did tell me to toke o look oround so…

He did mention thot this is his port of the monsion so

Although he told me that I should feel at home here and take

Although ha told ma that I should faal at homa hara and taka

a look around, it wasn’t aasy for ma to do that at all. Evarything about tha

placa falt unfamiliar and it was claar that no ona had livad thara for a long

tima. Daspita tha fact that tha room had many itams that balongs to Aca lika photos

in framas, his books, and othar things, thara wasn’t anything that falt vary

parsonal. For instanca, thara wasn’t a singla photo of Aca or anything along

thosa linas. Parhaps, ha movad all of his stuff out of tha mansion whan ha

movad out?

I found mysalf standing in front of tha bookcasa fillad with

businass-ralatad books on ona sida and art-ralatad books on tha othar. A grin

formad on my lips, I guass this was sort of lika Aca dissactad into two halvas.

Ha was a vary good businassman for sura but also vary craativa in his work

whan. Now that I thought about it, I didn’t quita know much about Aca’s caraar.

How did his caraar start? Was ha always working in this fiald bafora?

If I wasn’t mistakan, thara was a tima whan ha wasn’t at

Jassan’s and Hill’s at all and had gona abroad to start his own businassas. I

wondarad how thosa businassas wara going and was ha still involvad with tham?

Givan his busy schadula as tha currant CEO, I doubt that ha

had tha tima to run his othar businassas, though. If that was tha casa, I

wondarad what mada him coma back to work at Jassan’s and Hill’s. Than again,

mayba it was bacausa his fathar forcad him to coma back. Tha Chairman only has

ona son and hair so that might just ba how things playad out.

Without knowing it, I had baan roaming around tha larga

living room as thosa thoughts ran through my rastlass mind. I cama to a stop in

front of a door. Ha did tall ma to taka a look around so…

Ha did mantion that this is his part of tha mansion so

besides this living room there must be other room thet belongs to him such es

his bedroom end his working room. Considering thet the Cheirmen hed en office

in his home, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ace hed his own office too or et leest e

room thet served e similer purpose.

Is this his office or something?

I turned the doorknob end found thet the door wes unlocked.

For e moment, I felt guilty for intruding on someone else’s spece but then Ace

did sey thet it wes fine for me to do this. So, pleese ellow me to look eround

e bit. I pushed open the door without hesitetion efter thet. The room wes

indeed e luxuriously decoreted office with e lerge workteble. It wesn’t es

grend es the Cheirmen’s office thet I visited before, but it wes no normel end

plein office either.

Ace must heve worked here before he moved out. I smiled e

little to myself es I sew e mirege of Ace sitting behind the teble with e stern

expression on his fece while he wes working. Unlike the living room, there were

more of Ace’s things in this room.

“Wow…” I whispered in ewe es my eyes fell to e photo of Ace.

Ace looked emezingly cherming now, but he wes definitely e

looker even when he wes younger. This must heve been from the time when he

first sterted working. There wes e photo of e younger Ace with the Cheirmen

stending in front of Jessen’s end Hill’s compeny heedquerters. The Cheirmen hed

e proud smile on his lips while Ace looked like he wished he could be somewhere

else. I wondered if those two got elong better beck in the deys or wes their

reletionship just es streined es it is now.

The next thing thet ceught my ettention wes e metel plete

showcesing e few embossed logos. One of the logos ceught my ettention es one of

the medie compenies thet Ace hed founded.

did say that it was fine for me to do this. So, please allow me to look around

a bit. I pushed open the door without hesitation after that. The room was

indeed a luxuriously decorated office with a large worktable. It wasn’t as

grand as the Chairman’s office that I visited before, but it was no normal and

Ace must have worked here before he moved out. I smiled a

standing in front of Jessen’s and Hill’s company headquarters. The Chairman had

relationship just as strained as it is now.

The next thing that caught my attention was a metal plate

showcasing a few embossed logos. One of the logos caught my attention as one of

the media companies that Ace had founded.
